Bethel’s mission began twelve years ago inside the home of Sis. Grace Scutchings. Shortly thereafter, we moved to the Germantown section of the city but were forced to move due to the building's change of ownership. Next, we moved to Northeast Philadelphia where we shared our place of worship. Following, the Northeast we moved back to Germantown. We had great plans for serving this community and we were blessed to return, but God had other plans so once again we were forced to move to another location. This time we moved to West Philadelphia. It was here God began to truly bless our congregation. Our membership was growing and souls were being saved, but God was not finished blessing us. At this location we discovered severe structural damages and was abruptly forced out of the place we called home. Unfortunately, the owners of the building failed in their responsibilities to make the necessary repairs to the building. We were permitted only a few moments to gather our most important possessions. This left us with no place to continue our mission and the potential to face constant relocation. Refusing to fail our community and eager to continue our services, we were temporarily and thankfully utilizing the basement of a school. However, to enable us to focus all of our attention on the work of our Lord & Savior, Jesus the Christ, we’ve begun the process of purchasing a home of our own. Well, To God be the Glory, we had our first Worship Service on Sunday, December 13th 2009. All praises to our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
Our journey wasn’t easy, but He never said it would be. We trust and believe that the same God that delivered the Children of Israel from the clutches of Pharaoh has also delivered us. We share this testimony to encourage others and know that "If God be for us, Who can be against us?" Romans 8:31. This scripture has stayed with our Pastor throughout all of our trials and tribulations. He believes and stands on God's word. The God we serve can do All Things. Believe it & Receive it!
